New Resources and Trials
Dictionnaires des XVIe et XVIIe siècles (trial)
Dictionnaires des XVIe et XVIIe siècles: This is a database of ten historical French dictionaries of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It allows you to search these dictionaries all at the same time.
Lacking a French 'OED', it is the closest thing there is to a historical French dictionary. Likely to be of interest to historians, social scientists as well as to linguists and literary scholars. The trial
lasts until May 31st. All feedback to Nick Hearn.
ARTFL (trial)
ARTFL is an indispensable collection of electronic resources for researchers in French Language and Literature. In addition to resources publicly available on ARTFL, Oxford has recently been granted trial access
to all the ARTFL databases including those only bon subscription until the end of May 2012. This includes access to the main ARTFL version of FRANTEXT comprising 3,558 French texts from the 12th to 20th
centuries, as well as several other restricted collections of texts and crucial reference works. Please send feedback to Nick Hearn.
Ben-Gurion Archives
The Ben-Gurion Archives Online is an innovative project in the computerization
of documentation. Initiated by Dr. Tuvia Friling, the project offers researchers
and all those interested in the revival of Israel, the possibility to reach all
the vast material to be found in the Ben-Gurion Archives via a computerized
database using full/free text and images of the actual documents, through the
Internet and in real time. The computerized database currently contains over 750,000 pages of archival
documents, including 20,000 pages of Ben-Gurion's Diaries.
World Christian Database (WCD)
The WCD includes detailed information on all major world religions. Extensive religious and secular
statistics are available on 9,000 Christian denominations, 238 countries and 13,000 ethnolinguistic peoples, as well as on 5,000 cities and
3,000 provinces. It covers religious activities, growth rates, religious literature, worker activity, and demography. Additional secular data is included on population,
health, education, languages, and communication. The data has been collected from published and unpublished sources, field work, interviews, and questionnaires
returned by churches and national collaborators over the period 1982-present.
World Religion Database (WRD)
The WRD contains detailed statistics on religious affiliation for every country in the world, using census and survey data. It is the major
source for international religious demography, with current and historical data, as well as forecasts of future developments (1900-2050).
